912d ago@inveni0,Not really. George Lucas really knocked it out of the part with the first Star Wars trilogy, despite everyone saying he would fail. When it came to making the prequel trilogy, no one wanted to butt in and offer input because they were convinced he was the best man for the job. It'd be like if everyone on the Lawbreakers team let Cliff handle the level design, art design, gameplay design, bug fixing, all the writing for characters, etc.If you really read into the development of the original trilogy it was really quite expertly crafted.
The prequel trilogy still had some good ideas but no one had the balls to tell George Lucas when he had an idea that was s. Same with the casting and writing.
Lawbreakers is now officially dead. Nearly four months after Boss Key's closure, Lawbreaker's online servers have been shut down, severing the online-only multiplayer game from its mortal coil.
Even today he'd do perfectly fine overseeing the Star Wars films, similar to what Fiege's role is in the MCU. I for one am dissapointed we'll never get Lucas's vision for the post Episode 6 story.
912d ago (Edited 912d ago )It just goes to show that launching a game on PS4 and PC alone, isn't always a guaranteed success (which you could say the same for any other gaming platforms plus PC combination). Cliffy B's been know to fan the flames of console rivalry when he was a part of the Unreal family, so maybe Sony fans still hold a grudge against him. Freezing the Xbox community out, is the one of worst case of 'bitting the hand that feeds you,' I've ever noticed regarding gaming. And there's also the fact that people find the game buggy, tripe, and uninspiring. 912d ago.Cliffys fanbase for the last 11 years has been the xbox fanbase.Bulletstorm.Xbox one barely had an games other than 3rd party all year, I think it would have done ok.Lawbreakers wouldn't have been exclusive and it would still compete with Overwatch. If people think a game people just aren't interested in, including Xbox gamers who, I know this might surprise many, don't just buy games on Xbox, would sell better just because it would be exclusive and not because it's a better game. Kind of tells you why gaming is where it is rather than where it could be. 912d ago (Edited 912d ago )Christopher's comment IS the problem and ultimately what killed Lawbreakers. ' you can't compete against Blizzard' seems to be the sentiment with this game.

THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NOR PLAYS ANYTHING LIKE OVERWATCH. Yet thats all people can talk about. There's nothing wrong with the game, there's definitely something wrong with gamers talking about it without actually knowing what it is. It was widely dismissed before it ever had a chance because it was misidentified early on.@kribwalker'the xbox fanbase' is mostly on PS4. They have been for the past 4 years.

911d ago.Christopher's comment IS the problem and ultimately what killed Lawbreakers. ' you can't compete against Blizzard' seems to be the sentiment with this game. THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NOR PLAYS ANYTHING LIKE OVERWATCH.It doesn't matter the differences. Even Cliffy recognizes it as his main competition and so did the public.
Battleborn also was nothing like Overwatch and it still lost a ton of potential due to it.Ignoring public perception isn't going to solve the issue. Marketing and perception are more than half the battle. If Cliffy wanted to not be compared to Overwatch then he should have drastically changed how his game plays, but instead he embraced the comparisons.Saying that a game failing had nothing to do with excluding an entire system is ridiculous. An entire system that represents the smallest percentage of market share and you think it would suddenly make the game viable and not a failure? C'mon people. 910d ago (Edited 910d ago ).Lol smallest percentage or not you're still excluding an entire possible fanbase. Saying that doesn't affect the games survival is both idiotic completely based on your personal beliefs. The gaming trends on both machines are nearly identical. Sorry, but no, it's far from idiotic to think if a third party title with a major competitor on the same platforms fails to catch on will suddenly catch on on a platform that mimics the other two for third party games. It is very rare that Xbox and PlayStation don't line up with third party interests especially with shooters. And it's based on sales data trends.
Anyone who somehow believes it would have succeeded is just parroting the same BS people have said about Quantum Break and similar games if they were on PlayStation. Those games would have sold comparatively the same, not somehow turned into blockbuster sales.
912d ago@Maybay Lol so Square Enix trying to claim that Tomb Raider is more an Xbox franchise when defending its timed exclusivity wasn't a complete 'biting the hand that feeds you' to PlayStation fans, you know that console family that pretty much has every single game in the franchise including the first 5 games in the series too? That was FAR more an F U to the fans. Actually so was the disastrous decision to make Munch's Oddysse on Xbox too, where EA and Microsoft did zero to help market it as detailed by Lorne Lanning. Thankfully, for us all, that series made a comeback.Lawbreakers (did I get that name right)? Yeah that's the game that all Xbox fans are begging for over everything else. There have been far worse 'biting the hand that feeds you' in gaming and I just gave you two.
912d ago (Edited 912d ago )Honestly, that first paragraph is one of the most ridiculously stupid things I've read in quite a while. It actually hurts me to think that you actually believe it. Talk about living and thinking inside a bubble. The majority of gamers don't even know who he is, let alone the casual gamer. Most Playstion only gamers would have no clue.
An even smaller amount actually read gaming news and actually read story about what Cliff has said or his views.People just weren't interested in the game. It's really that simple. 912d ago (Edited 912d ago )Oh well, I'm glad nobody else listened to Cliffy back in 2011 when he said crap like 'AAA Indie gaming is dead'.In the link above he even 'went on to warn developers in the audience that gamers today demand value. Fail to offer it, and you're doomed.'
No joke lol.Its quite ironic that Ninja Theory released THEIR 'Middle class game', that falls between AAA and indie, the exact same day as Lawbreakers and it was deservedly the biggest selling game on PSN for the month of August.Lawbreakers didn't even make the top 20 for the month. Back to the drawing board Cliffy.
